Udyog Aadhar Registration 2026 – Step-by-Step Guide
Udyog Aadhar (now called Udyam Registration) is a 100% free government registration for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Follow these steps to register online.
- Step 1: Visit the official portal: udyamregistration.gov.in
- Step 2: Click on “For New Entrepreneurs who are not Registered yet as UDYAM”
- Step 3: Enter your Aadhaar Number (12 digits) and click “Validate & Generate OTP”
- Step 4: Enter OTP received on Aadhaar-linked mobile number
- Step 5: Your name from Aadhaar will auto-fill. Verify and proceed
- Step 6: Fill in business details: Enterprise Name, PAN (optional), Address, Bank Account Details
- Step 7: Select Enterprise Type (Micro/Small/Medium) based on investment & turnover
- Step 8: Enter NIC Code (National Industrial Classification) for your business activity
- Step 9: Provide number of employees and plant/office address
- Step 10: Submit the form. Your Udyam Registration Number is generated instantly
- Step 11: Download Udyam Certificate (PDF) from the portal

Udyog Aadhar vs Udyam Registration – What’s the Difference?
Important Update: From July 1, 2020, “Udyog Aadhar” has been replaced with “Udyam Registration”. All new registrations are under Udyam. Existing Udyog Aadhar holders must migrate to Udyam for continued benefits.

How to Update Udyog Aadhar / Udyam Registration 2026
- Visit udyamregistration.gov.in and click “Update Udyam Registration”
- Enter your Udyam Registration Number (URN)
- Enter OTP received on registered mobile number
- Edit the fields you want to update: Investment, Turnover, Address, Bank Details, Employee Count
- Submit the updated information
- Download the updated Udyam Certificate (PDF) after approval
Note: Any change in investment or turnover that changes your enterprise category (Micro → Small → Medium) requires immediate update to maintain correct classification.
Migrate from Old Udyog Aadhar to Udyam 2026
If you have an old Udyog Aadhar certificate (issued before July 1, 2020), you must migrate to Udyam registration to continue receiving MSME benefits.

- Enter your old Udyog Aadhar Number (UAN)
- Verify OTP on registered mobile number
- Your old data will auto-populate – review and update
